Site Selection
Thailand is currently planning the next stage of their long-term growth - named Thailand 4.0. And the EEC lies at the heart of this scheme, focusing on 3 main provinces, Rayong, Chonburi, and Chachoengsao.
These provinces are consistently plagued with landfills, and in fact, the regions have seen an influx of facilities in the waste business since the commencement of the plans in 2014.

- Performative wetlands
Aside from processing the recyclable electronic waste from landfills, the main purpose of the first phase is to remediate ground and water from the landfill’s toxic leachate. Hence, a series of constructed wetlands on exchanging sides of the river is introduced to gradually decontaminate water pollutants.
Landfill Encapsulation
The existing landfill is excavated and encapsulated onto containment mounts to mitigate the migration of pollutants within the ground. Leachate and surface runoff water from the mounts will be contained and treated.
Channel creation, on-site and off-site soil fill
For the moderately polluted grounds in between the encapsulated landfill and the constructed wetland, the grounds are also excavated and placed on adjacent grounds to allow for better containment and further treatment of pollutants through phytoremediation. This process generates primary and secondary channels, which are later used for vehicle and pedestrian circulation.
Recycling Infrastructure Placement
Secondhand electronics recycling
infrastructure occupies the ground adjacent to the primary channels, forming a chain of infrastructure starting from dismantling, sorting, upcycling, bio-recycling with algae, and pyrometallurgy woven by tertiary channels between each space.
Flood Water Entrance
This site is expected to see flooding impacts of rising sea levels from 2040 onwards and be fully flooded by 2070.
With the flooded condition, the previously dry primary and secondary channels will form deeper flooded zones, creating new “highways” for water vehicular circulation
